Clinical Psychologist

 

Ronan (He/Him/His) is the owner operator of ARG Psychology. He is a Clinical Psychologist with a wealth of experience working with clients across the life spectrum both the public and private mental health sectors including school, residential care, aged care, and hospital systems. Ronan strives to provide a warm, safe and trusting space for clients including gender and neurodivergent client groups. He emphasises the importance of building therapeutic relationships with clients and is passionate about helping clients develop insight, self-compassion, and autonomy. Ronan offers two main services: therapy, and psychological assessments.

Therapy

Ronan offers therapeutic services children aged five and above, adolescents, adults, and older adults (65 yo+). He incorporates evidence-based interventions tailored to an individual’s needs and goals. Therapeutic approaches include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), and Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP). These therapies focus on helping clients develop insight into their thoughts, feeling, and behaviours to help them manage emotions, adjust to life transitions, reduce phobias, and help re-framing unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviours which impact the client’s intra- and inter- personal functioning. Areas of practice include: Depression and low mood; Anxiety Disorders; Life transitions (e.g.,retirement, separation); Grief and Loss; Gender Incongruence; Childhood and Adulthood experiences of adversity and trauma; Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD); Stress management; Low self-esteem; Interpersonal/Relationship difficulties; Work place challenges; Suicidal ideation; Life meaning and purpose.

Assessments

Ronan provides psychological assessments across cognitive, neurological, behavioural, and educational domains. Neurological reports are written from a neuroaffirming lens.
